Strong Tower Shelter:

Roseland Christian Ministries Strong Tower Shelter ProgramThe Strong Tower is home for our women and children’s interim housing program.  The Strong Tower was opened in October of 2001 when it became apparent that there was a greater need to provide housing for homeless mothers in the City of Chicago.  RCM’s Strong Tower houses single mothers and their children year round in our main facility.  Up to 80 women and children at a time stay in the Strong Tower.

The Strong Tower clients come to Roseland Christian Ministries through a referral from the Chicago Department of Human Services. While staying with us, their needs will be addressed with our case manager.  Some areas that are addressed include: education; employment training, placement and retention; housing placement; substance abuse detox and recovery treatments; mental health assessment and treatment; life skills training.  RCM networks with many agencies across the Chicago land area to help our residents connect with organizations useful in helping them become self-sufficient and move out of homelessness.

The Roseland area continues to be an area of high need with many homeless single moms, high unemployment and a high rate of crime.  But on the corner of 109th and Michigan, we boldly proclaim the Kingdom of God in this work, and we proclaim the name of the Lord…a Strong Tower.
