Impact of Renovation

Daily Meal Program
Accessing a commercial kitchen and larger serving space allows us to serve and seat more people on both a daily basis and when we host special community and holiday meals. Because the kitchen meets City of Chicago health code regulations, we are able to access food grants from The Greater Chicago Food Depository. This space also functions as a warming center during winter months and cooling center in summer months. Updated bathrooms and shower will be located in this area for daily community use.

Food Pantry
RCM hosts a “consumer choice” food pantry that allows for participants to choose their own food and groceries. Pockets of the Roseland neighborhood suffer from food insecurities and access to fresh fruits and vegetables. RCM Food Pantry helps provide weekly access to healthy food for individuals and families facing hunger and ensures that we are able to serve everyone safely with compassion and empathy.

Youth Programs
Our year-round youth programs, including a free 4-week summer camp for youth ages 5-15 years old, ensures children have access to positive and faith-based activities in a safe and stable environment. We have walked with thousands of young people from the Roseland community.

Women and Children’s Shelter
Install an updated and safer entrance to the shelter that includes a new security camera system.

Care Center
Install an updated entry way and large windows on Michigan Avenue and 109th Street to be more open and welcoming to the community. This also allows for more natural light in the building. A more welcoming Care Center will help us serve more people. Without windows and nature light the building feels closed off and many people do not know all the services we offer. We distribute hygiene kits, provide help with obtaining State ID’s, birth certificates, notarizing government documents, utility assistance, and other human needs.

Offices
Renovated office space for RCM staff and classrooms for youth programs with updated technology.

Sanctuary
Create a new church sanctuary allowing for a more traditional, sacred worship experience with room for the congregation to grow. This space will also allow us to assist the community in hosting funerals, weddings, and baptisms.
